January 29, 2016 Can’t believe we’ve almost blown through January!   The last few weeks are now a blur.   We’re here in St. Louis and have lots of work to do.   We have faith that the Lord will make us equal to the task. We reported to the Mission Office on Monday and met President and Sister Bateman—kind and caring people.   They put on a luncheon for some of the new, existing, and departing Senior Missionaries.   I’m got an abbreviated training on cars and Karen got some help on apartments and is trying to figure out what to do in healthcare.   The office atmosphere is fun and enjoyable, but very busy. We love the missionaries!   We met many at a WW Missionary broadcast, and have met some coming/going from the office.   It’s great to be here with them. We worked late most every day, trying to keep up and learn what we need to do.   We hardly had time to explore, but did get our apartment arranged; got a new bed, internet connected, stuff unpacked, etc.

Busy week, little time to update our blog, but briefly: We continued our training; Karen was in her medical training Monday thru Thursday.  George traveled to the MTC on Tuesday and Wednesday for car and apartment training.  Friday we left for St. Louis from Salt Lake City.   Starting our drive up Parley's Canyon We were VERY blessed with the weather!  We experienced some black ice and blowing snow, but otherwise decent weather. Blowing snow and cold through Wyoming We drove to Sidney Nebraska and spent the night. Saturday we made it to Missouri!   Yeah--we made it! We stayed in Independence on Saturday and went to the Liberty Jail Visitor's Center.  It was a very touching experience to be there and we would highly recommend visiting. The Ward we attended was wonderful!  The membership was something like 70% Samoan and very kind caring people.  We don't quite understand the connection between St. Louis and Samoa. We're back at it again!  We reported to the MTC on January 9 on a cold Provo day.  The warmth of the spirit in the amazing MTC offset any cold we felt outside. We met many wonderful couples this week assigned to serve in missions all over the world.  There were 99 senior missionaries in our group.  We also met lots of young missionaries excited to be there; some learning foreign languages and others here to focus on Preach My Gospel. We had many great experiences while here, to name a few: We gained a greater understanding of the atonement of Jesus Christ and His role in the conversion process.   We were uplifted by mingling with hundreds of missionaries called to serve and it strengthened our testimonies that the Lord guides this work.  It was really amazing to talk to them and hear of their mission calls all over the world! We also met 11 Sisters and 1 Elder preparing to serve in the St Louis Mission! We attended two devotionals; one with Elder Neil L Andersen of the Qu
