WOW--I was just at the right place at the right time to catch this owl

Yesterday to kick off #Light the World, the monthly Mission Leadership Council gathered together  and did service.  They ended up doing service in our little Branch.  Today we went to the open house at our branch and witnessed some of their handiwork that included preparing the Church for today.  The Branch President showed me around and talked about the hard work of the missionaries.  They also helped a few people in their yards and brought food.

November Missionary Transfers

I will have to admit, we have had mild weather the last week or so.  I have enjoyed it every minute! Okay I did walk to work the other day and it was 27 degrees F, but by afternoon it was in the 50's.  I hope it stays like this for a few more weeks; like six weeks.  The clerk in the grocery store told me, he was just done with this weather and he wants it cold and snowy.

One of the highlights we have enjoyed in St Louis, is serving in the Temple Saturday mornings.  We are delighted to work with and associate with great people; some who travel long distances and make sacrifices to serve in the Temple.  Several weeks ago we were able to go to the Temple with the Missionaries, but we work as ordinance workers.  I treasure these times in our life.      

Office Elders are called for two transfers (twelve weeks) and then move on.  So every six weeks, we get a new Office Elder.  Over the last year, we have had some great Elders and this transfer is no exception.  Okay, sometimes I am a little prejudice, but we have great Elders serving in the office right now.  They have MANY duties, but I appreciate their willingness to help in transporting new beds, dressers, mail, supplies, whatever it may be to the missionaries out in the trenches.

Thanksgiving week, Missionaries returned home, the next day Missionaries came.  The day before Thanksgiving was training and they were off to their new areas.  It is always fun to watch the match up of missionaries.  Thursday, we enjoyed a nice day (out of the office) and a good meal at the Mission Home.

And now it is Saturday, December 2nd our son Spencer's 36th birthday.  Spencer, we love you and are thankful for you and your family!

  Pond and park behind the mission home Yesterday was our oldest Grandson Nathen's birthday; he turned 10.  Our son Spencer, said Alex (2) heard his older brother say, "It's my birthday" and saw that he got special privileges.  So Alex started saying, "It's my birthday" hoping for the same results.  We sure love our family :). Friday night was the Pagedale Branch Temple night; although this is a small branch, twenty six people were there for this special occasion.  Three of our dear Sisters came to the Temple for the first time.  I wish I could say, it was because of the Temple Preparation Class, but these ladies had a desire to come to the Temple and we were privileged to be there. Building along my walk to the office We enjoy attending a small branch in St Louis, Missouri.  Although we have only been coming for a few weeks, among the few regulars new people have show up each week.  I talked with the Primary President today.  I asked her how many children in the primary.  She said there are different children every week, but on a good day about twelve children attend. George & Mack--cousins--who would've guessed! We met a neat member at the Branch a few weeks ago; Mack Abercrombie.  George helped him do some simple family work--finding some census records for his father and grandparents.  He then decided to send it to his sister, Nancy, who is a missionary at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.  She found multiple generations for Mack.  As George looked at the family names--he found a familiar name that was in his line.  He checked on Relative Search and found that Mack's mother is his 11th cousin.  Quite a surprise!!  Thanks to N

January 29, 2016 Can’t believe we’ve almost blown through January!   The last few weeks are now a blur.   We’re here in St. Louis and have lots of work to do.   We have faith that the Lord will make us equal to the task. We reported to the Mission Office on Monday and met President and Sister Bateman—kind and caring people.   They put on a luncheon for some of the new, existing, and departing Senior Missionaries.   I’m got an abbreviated training on cars and Karen got some help on apartments and is trying to figure out what to do in healthcare.   The office atmosphere is fun and enjoyable, but very busy. We love the missionaries!   We met many at a WW Missionary broadcast, and have met some coming/going from the office.   It’s great to be here with them. We worked late most every day, trying to keep up and learn what we need to do.   We hardly had time to explore, but did get our apartment arranged; got a new bed, internet connected, stuff unpacked, etc.
