We always look forward to talking with our children and grandchildren on Sunday evenings; this evening was no exception.  Spencer, our son, told us about serving in the parking lot at the Tucson Temple Open House and the melting asphalt related to heat.
  
We have had lovely weather, not hot and humid as we have been warned our summer would be.  I am sure we will not miss out.  This morning I went for a walk around our apartment; I needed a jacket. 

Our lesson in Relief Society was on becoming a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ by Elder Robert D. Hales.  I have studied Doctrine and Covenants 4 and am interested in the attributes we should develop to become more Christlike.  Faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence and as Elder Hales shared "disciples live so that the characteristics of Christ are woven into the fiber of their beings".  I have a lot of work to do.

Yesterday was a great day when we went to the Temple along with three sisters (two are recent converts) and did baptisms.  Our Branch President performed the baptisms.  It was the Sisters first time visiting the Temple and they expressed their joy in having this experience.  Also, quite out of the ordinary, George happened to meet up with his second cousin, Becky Dewitt and her husband from Mesa,AZ at the Temple.

A couple of times this week, we have had lunch and treats with Missionaries.  It is always great to hear testimonies and experiences.

 Monday evening we were invited to a Family Home Evening at the Mission Home for the senior missionaries and the Mission Presidency.  We enjoyed dinner and a lesson and good company.

Building along my walk to the office We enjoy attending a small branch in St Louis, Missouri.  Although we have only been coming for a few weeks, among the few regulars new people have show up each week.  I talked with the Primary President today.  I asked her how many children in the primary.  She said there are different children every week, but on a good day about twelve children attend.   Pond and park behind the mission home Yesterday was our oldest Grandson Nathen's birthday; he turned 10.  Our son Spencer, said Alex (2) heard his older brother say, "It's my birthday" and saw that he got special privileges.  So Alex started saying, "It's my birthday" hoping for the same results.  We sure love our family :). Friday night was the Pagedale Branch Temple night; although this is a small branch, twenty six people were there for this special occasion.  Three of our dear Sisters came to the Temple for the first time.  I wish I could say, it was because of the Temple Preparation Class, but these ladies had a desire to come to the Temple and we were privileged to be there. January 29, 2016 Can’t believe we’ve almost blown through January!   The last few weeks are now a blur.   We’re here in St. Louis and have lots of work to do.   We have faith that the Lord will make us equal to the task. We reported to the Mission Office on Monday and met President and Sister Bateman—kind and caring people.   They put on a luncheon for some of the new, existing, and departing Senior Missionaries.   I’m got an abbreviated training on cars and Karen got some help on apartments and is trying to figure out what to do in healthcare.   The office atmosphere is fun and enjoyable, but very busy. We love the missionaries!   We met many at a WW Missionary broadcast, and have met some coming/going from the office.   It’s great to be here with them.
