President and Sister Bateman invited all the Senior Missionaries in the Mission over for a pot luck dinner and Family Home Evening.  My best food awards go to Elder Gourley and his dutch oven potatoes and Sister Hair's variation of BYU mint brownies mmmm.  We also welcomed our new finance secretary, who arrived after a perilous trip through snow storms.

 We also had our first tornado watch this last week.  Then the wind and hail came but no tornado in St Louis.  We are grateful for covered parking.

 Our mission is ever changing in the car department.  We gathered drivers and traveled to pickup four new Chevy Malibu cars.  I am grateful for GPS and I love going over the big rivers.
Mission Leadership Council (MLC)

 Friday was Mission Leadership Council.  I was in charge of feeding the missionaries.  Thank You Costco; the chicken pot pie was a hit.  George spoke on his favorite subject. . cars (not).

 We enjoyed attending the Temple Saturday.  It is now closed for two weeks.  Later we attended a baptism.  We loved talking to our old Mission President and his Wife and wonderful friends, the Ferrins.  They are serving as Director of the Visitors Center at the Washington D.C. Temple and having a wonderful time.

  Pond and park behind the mission home Yesterday was our oldest Grandson Nathen's birthday; he turned 10.  Our son Spencer, said Alex (2) heard his older brother say, "It's my birthday" and saw that he got special privileges.  So Alex started saying, "It's my birthday" hoping for the same results.  We sure love our family :). Friday night was the Pagedale Branch Temple night; although this is a small branch, twenty six people were there for this special occasion.  Three of our dear Sisters came to the Temple for the first time.  I wish I could say, it was because of the Temple Preparation Class, but these ladies had a desire to come to the Temple and we were privileged to be there. January 29, 2016 Can’t believe we’ve almost blown through January!   The last few weeks are now a blur.   We’re here in St. Louis and have lots of work to do.   We have faith that the Lord will make us equal to the task. We reported to the Mission Office on Monday and met President and Sister Bateman—kind and caring people.   They put on a luncheon for some of the new, existing, and departing Senior Missionaries.   I’m got an abbreviated training on cars and Karen got some help on apartments and is trying to figure out what to do in healthcare.   The office atmosphere is fun and enjoyable, but very busy. We love the missionaries!   We met many at a WW Missionary broadcast, and have met some coming/going from the office.   It’s great to be here with them. We worked late most every day, trying to keep up and learn what we need to do.   We hardly had time to explore, but did get our apartment arranged; got a new bed, internet connected, stuff unpacked, etc.

Building along my walk to the office We enjoy attending a small branch in St Louis, Missouri.  Although we have only been coming for a few weeks, among the few regulars new people have show up each week.  I talked with the Primary President today.  I asked her how many children in the primary.  She said there are different children every week, but on a good day about twelve children attend. George & Mack--cousins--who would've guessed! We met a neat member at the Branch a few weeks ago; Mack Abercrombie.  George helped him do some simple family work--finding some census records for his father and grandparents.  He then decided to send it to his sister, Nancy, who is a missionary at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.  She found multiple generations for Mack.  As George looked at the family names--he found a familiar name that was in his line.  He checked on Relative Search and found that Mack's mother is his 11th cousin.  Quite a surprise!!  Thanks to N
